Shout it from the treetops, if you want

Dear World,

I am dating Lin Rice.
In your face.

Sincerely,

I want to be strong

but I'm just not, and I'm sorry.

There are two good things in all of this.

1) I have a God who is strong.

2) He gave me you.

You're my hero.

100!

Dear Blog,

We've come a long way.

OK, so really, we haven't come that far. It's been a little over a year, I think? Changes have taken place, yes, but change is inevitable.

Enough nostalgia.

In honor of my California-bound sister, who drove off westward this morning in her purple Elantra accompanied by her faithful sidekick, El Tigre, I bring you this list.

15 Things I like this week:
1. Poptarts and milk
2. Everyone's hair first thing in the morning
3. Sunscreen (thank you for saving me from scorching, SPF 30!)
4. Hamburgers on the grill and the return of tomatos
5. Manual cameras
6. Antique glass
7. Family vacations (past and future)
8. Facebook as a means of keeping track of people
9. Floating holidays
10. The magic of carousels
11. Your hugs
12. Ice cream
13. Paperback novels
14. Sunny 75 degree days
15. Newsies sheet music

The mundane

Semi-regular insanity has always been routine for me. I have mostly tried to shield my loved ones from this (somewhat unsuccessfully).

Take, for example, today, when a long argument over text messaging and gmail chat can be summed up with this explanation:

"OK, so to clarify: I was sad that I couldn't see you last night, so I made up an excuse as to why tonight wouldn't work, and then I got mad when you assumed I was busy and didn't have time to see you tonight."

I'm officially insane.

Also, my boyfriend is awesome for not hating me.

Teter bash, here I come!

Mmm ... Strawberry rhubarb pie, recipe courtesy Smitten Kitchen.

I am overly proud of how pretty this pie turned out, and I have been (very evilly) showing it off all day to people who can't have any. I'm a cruel person.

But yay! My first latticed-topped pie! That I will take on my first visit to the Teter farm!

Dear disappointments and neuroses,
Please don't show up anywhere near me today. Thanks.

Note to self

Try not to laugh when a coworker talks about "the journalistic integrity of the story," over the phone.
